Workwear Inspiration for Spring and Summer 2024
Posted by Chelsea Lankford on Mar 25th 2024
Workwear attire is one area of my wardrobe that I look forward to changing out season to season. Whether you’re clocking in office hours or spending your days in a hybrid/remote situation, integrating new pieces for warmer weather makes for an easy mood lift as we dust off winter’s chill.
Sometimes business-casual tends to live on the simpler side of the fashion world, but this year’s statement sleeve trend takes care of that easily. As a built-in way to add interest, features like bell sleeves, puff sleeves, or trim details like eyelet and lace lend a playful and feminine touch to any look. For an understated approach, tops in solid colors will be your best bet to let the statement element speak for itself.
It’s easy to lean into pastel hues in spring as the flowers begin to bloom, but spring 2024’s go-to shade of cool ice blue provides the perfect complement to anything you own in zesty poppy orange or vibrant lipstick red. Pairing pastels with contrasting primary-inspired hues will level up a traditional spring look for this year’s trends–think kelly green with light lavender or vibrant royal blue with a soft buttery yellow when you’re shopping for prints.
Spring is the ideal time to break out skirts and dresses, and before summer weather (and the summer glow) hits, midi lengths are the way to go. Textures like pleats or lightweight tweed are welcome additions whether you reach for a full skirt or slimmer-silhouetted pencil style. Instead of layering up with tights and boots, enter April pairing your skirts with kitten-heeled slingbacks or a flat pair of mules for that extra breath of fresh air.
