Casual Summer Style Trends

Posted by Chelsea Lankford on May 29th 2024

As sun-soaked days approach, you might hear the call to revamp your seasonal wardrobe with breezy styles that reflect the warm-weather comfort you crave. While summer is typically chock full of family or special events, we’re keeping it casual this month to focus on more laid-back summer style trends at Style Encore and embracing the relaxed looks that walked the runways for spring/summer 2024.

First things first: swap your summer brights for summer whites. One of this year’s top color trends is more like a lack thereof for a crisp and clean aesthetic. Whether you lean toward a warmer shade of eggshell or a cooler shade of ice, a white midi dress or half-sleeve top will make you look just as cool as you feel on sunny days throughout June and July. Add texture through fabric choice or by adding a woven bag and chunky sandals that keep your look grounded.

While it’s usually “team crew neck” versus “team v neck,” make room for the polo neck this season to elevate the basic tee look. If we know one thing about fashion, it’s that everything is a cycle, and polo-style tops have returned to power. A new spin on the style is a polo that doesn’t have any type of closure at the neck. The open v-neck exudes casual confidence while the collar adds a little prep to an otherwise plain tee.

One of my favorite things about summer is that playfulness is encouraged! Crochet pieces have been everywhere for the last year, but the texture story doesn’t end there. It’s the perfect time to introduce all kinds of fringe, pom poms and laser-cut fabrics in skirts, light jackets or accessories. This is a great trend to try out with a DIY project as well: dress up a pair of gently-used sandals by adding pom poms to the ankle ties or rhinestones to the straps for a one-of-a-kind piece to serve your summer aesthetic.

No matter what direction you go, sustainability and individuality are at the forefront of fashion for Style Encore. Give pre-loved pieces a new lease on life this season by shopping a curated selection of effortless summer styles.
